Privacy Policy — Mouth Memory

This privacy policy explains how the "Mouth Memory" mobile app ("the App") handles your data. This document is a draft starting point, not legal advice — please have it reviewed against current Google Play requirements and, ideally, by a legal professional before publishing.

1. Data We Collect

Microphone data: The App uses your device's microphone for pronunciation practice. Your speech is converted to text by your device's own built-in speech recognition system. As part of that process, audio may be sent to your device's operating system provider (for example, Google on Android devices) — this happens as part of your device's own speech recognition feature, not something the App itself performs. The App does not store or process your voice recordings on our own servers.

Anonymous votes and feedback: When you like or dislike a story, or send feedback from Settings, that information (the vote/message and the time it was sent) is stored using Supabase, a third-party database service. This data is anonymous — it is not linked to any account, name, email address, or device identifier.

Local progress data: Your learning progress, streak count, star balance, flashcard collection, and preferences (language selections, voice settings, etc.) are stored only on your own device. This data is never sent to our servers and is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.

2. How We Use Data

• Microphone data is used only to provide real-time pronunciation feedback.
• Anonymous votes and feedback are used to improve the App and understand which content users enjoy.
• No data is used for advertising, sold, or shared with third parties for their own purposes (Supabase is an infrastructure provider hosting the data; it does not use the data for its own purposes).

3. Third-Party Services

4. Data Security

Anonymous vote/feedback data is protected so that it can only be added by the App — it cannot be read back or modified by the App (Row Level Security). This means the App itself cannot retrieve any user's data, including its own submissions.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

6. Your Rights

All users (GDPR/CCPA): Since the App does not use accounts, you can permanently remove all locally stored progress data at any time by uninstalling the App. You have the right to know what data is collected (see Section 1), and to request information about our data practices by contacting us using the details below.

The App does not sell personal data and does not knowingly share it beyond what's described in Section 3.
